Hypervision Surgical, a King’s College London spin-out, is leading a major leap in surgical intelligence through its real-time hyperspectral imaging (HSI) platform, now cleared for clinical use in the USA and UK.
By capturing tissue oxygenation, perfusion, and differentiation at video rate (60 frames per second), Hypervision’s technology enables more precise, informed surgeries – starting with a critical use case in colorectal procedures to reduce anastomotic leakage.
Through a strategic partnership with imec, Hypervision is scaling this breakthrough for widespread clinical adoption. Hypervision’s work is unique in many ways:
- World’s first regulatory-cleared intraoperative hyperspectral imaging system, combining on-chip HSI and real-time AI analytics.
- Real-time tissue insights (e.g., oxygenation, perfusion) at surgical speed – over 60 FPS – integrated directly into existing OR workflows.
- Dual imaging mode in Full HD: conventional color plus real-time quantitative tissue oxygenation maps (StO₂).
