Margot Niels

Margot Niels received her BSc and MSc degrees in Electronics and ICT Engineering Technology from Ghent University, Belgium, in 2019 and 2020, respectively. She then earned an additional MSc in Electrical Engineering from Ghent University in 2022. During her thesis work on a silicon photonic Butler matrix, Margot collaborated with imec’s Photonics Research Group at Ghent University, sparking her interest in photonics.

In September 2022, she joined the Photonics Research Group as a PhD student, where she is currently finalising her work on developing a wafer-scale micro-transfer printing technique to heterogeneously integrate lithium niobate on a silicon photonic platform
